Nest Protect Review

I was recently in the market for some new CO2 and Smoke detectors in my home. The old ones were junk and when you live in an older house (110 years old) it would be a good idea to have some new functional Smoke and CO2 alarms.

I decided on the Nest Protect CO2 and Smoke alarm.NestProtect

I bought one of each of the 120V and battery. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 120V came with 6 AA batteries as did the battery version. These were amazingly simple to install and setup. I had both of them up in a matter of 10 minutes or less.

I had heard that Nest products did not go together well with my type of router, but these connected to my wifi right away with no fuss. The app is on the Google Play store and installed in just a few minutes. The only thing that I did not really like is the 6 AA batteries. The package says that they last a long while, but that is a bit ambiguous and subjective. I will be happy if I have to change them once every 2 or 3 months. All in all I am pleasantly surprised and I can now sleep better knowing that my family and I are better protected from fire and CO2. At this point, I would highly recommend these amazing smoke detectors.
